The list below is a sample of the initiatives we have set up that help reduce our carbon footprint and enhance our environmental responsibility.
Green Operations
1. Solar-Powered Facilities
Four of DCL's six U.S. fulfillment centers are powered by solar energy, totaling 1,257 KW of installed capacity.
Fremont HQ: 287 KW
Second Fremont facility: 220 KW
Los Angeles: 350 KW
Louisville, KY: 400 KW (largest system)
Collectively, these systems allow DCL to offset approximately 85% of total energy requirements.
2. Energy Efficiency
Warehouses are outfitted with skylights to reduce artificial lighting needs, and all lighting systems are upgraded to energy-efficient LEDs.
100% of forklifts are electric and powered using the onsite solar infrastructure.
Use of an all electric truck to move goods within our network of warehouses.
3. Sustainable Packaging
DCL prioritizes the use of recycled and compostable packaging materials, including corrugated boxes, shrink wrap, and biodegradable packing bags.
Offer paper tape dispensing to avoid the use of plastic tape.
All used corrugate is recycled at every facility.
Encourage our customers to pursue digital packing slips to avoid inclusion of paper within each order.
4. Water Conservation and Eco-Friendly Facilities
Facilities are equipped with low-flow toilets and use drought-tolerant landscaping to reduce water usage.
5. Shipping and Transportation Efforts
We offer strategically located facilities, across the US, so our customers can distribute inventory closer to the end-customer, naturally reducing trucking time.
Eliminate unecessary returns shipping by working with USPS to secure destruction for unwanted returns (if our customers don't want to repurpose inventory, then can tell us to select a service where it is picked up by USPS and destroyed).
Our modern software helps our customers optimize shipping routes, reducing the footprint of a package to the end customer.
External Environmental and Regulatory Standards Compliance
DCL applies internal green practices but also meets regulatory frameworks at the state and regional levels—especially in California, where environmental regulations are among the strictest in the U.S.
South Coast AQMD WAIRE Program (Rule 2305)
Applicable at the Ontario, CA facility.
Aimed at reducing emissions from large warehouse operations by requiring reporting and mitigation strategies.
California Building Energy Benchmarking Program (AB 802)
Enforced at multiple California locations including Fremont (Milmont & Kato) and Ontario (Philadelphia).
Requires annual reporting of energy usage for transparency and benchmarking against state efficiency goals.
ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Certification
While primarily focused on quality systems, ISO 9001 includes environmental considerations within its continuous improvement framework.
Demonstrates DCL’s commitment to systematic process governance, which includes sustainability practices.
Mission and Value Alignment
DCL actively seeks out brand partners, customers and employees with shared commitments to sustainability, aiming to drive collective impact across the supply chain.
