  • Followed by long numeric strings (often 22–34 characters)

  • Often begins with 420 (USPS routing code)

  • 18 characters long

  • Always starts with “1Z”

  • Followed by:

    • 6-character shipper number

    • 2-character service level code

    • 8-digit package identifier (unique ID)

FedEx

12-digit numeric is the most common for Ground and Express. If it starts with 9611 it is 15-digits long and the final mile is delivered by USPS.

FedEx One Rate shipments utilize the same tracking number formats as standard FedEx services.

22-digit numeric is the most common utilized for Priority Mail, First-Class, and Parcel Select. If it is 13-character alphanumeric it is an International, Registered, or Certified Mail shipment.

Starts with a D or C followed by 14 digits. If there is a 1LS, LS, LX, or BN prefix it simply means it is within the region covered by LaserShip. (Note: LaserShip and OnTrac in 2021)
