To start B2B or retail fulfillment, you will need to follow the steps below.

Understanding B2B and Retail

B2B (Business-to-Business) refers to transactions, relationships, or commerce conducted between two businesses, rather than between a business and an individual consumer.

Common Examples

  • Direct to Retailer

  • Wholesale Distribution

Types of B2B Accounts + Lead Time for Integration

First determine what fulfillment support you are needing. There are three types of B2B account at DCL. The lead-time and setup for each varies on who managed the connection.

1. Direct to Retailer (Direct EDI)

  • DCL is the EDI provider and handles all EDI documents on the client's behalf.

  • DCL will require all EDI specs and retailer Routing Guide.

  • Lead time of 6-8 weeks for integration

Here are the steps to Request a New EDI Connection

2. Indirect EDI

  • DCL isn’t the EDI provider but generates the ASN carton labels, SSCC numbers and all tracking details for the client to be able to close any indirect EDI documents.

  • DCL will require all EDI specs and Routing Guide.

  • Lead time is dependent upon the client, and their 3rd party EDI provider standard is 6-8 weeks.

3. Wholesale Distribution

  • No direct or indirect EDI requirements.

  • Standard pick pack & ship.

  • Routing Guide required.
