DCL uses Hold Code ‘K’ to indicate retail order inventory that requires Value Added Services (VAS) work. This is to improve inventory visibility and prevent duplicate inventory commitments.

Inventory attributes of Hold Code K

  • Committed to a retail order

  • Requires VAS work

  • Inventory is treated as available for allocation purposes. This allows the retail order and the associated VAS activity to reference the same inventory without creating a duplicate inventory commitment.

Where to View Items Within Hold Code K

Within eFactory you will see all inventory on hold in the same place:

eFactory → Items → On Hold

Since K is not a common hold code, please ensure you also:

Select ‘Show all locations’ → Add ‘K’ to the Hold Code Filter

This path is noted in this image below:

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens to the inventory after the VAS work is completed?

The units will remain noted as Hold Code K until they are shipped as part of the retail order for which the VAS work was completed.

How will DCL know that a VAS ticket is for a retail order?

When creating a new CRT for retail VAS work, the first word of the project description should be: RETAIL

This allows the team to quickly identify that the work is associated with a retail order.

Examples:

  • RETAIL - Sam's Club - Label Master Cartons

  • RETAIL - COSTCO - LABEL MC WITH YELLOW LABELS FOR ORDER 013540730005-918431354

  • RETAIL - BEST BUY - LTL - LABEL MC'S ORDER VJSCDQ-660F49E1E96

Will inventory with Hold Code K appear on a pick for another customer?

No. Although items with Hold Code K are treated as available for inventory allocation, it remains on hold from an operational fulfillment perspective.

It will not appear on picks for other customers or on replenishment picks.
