At DCL, we ensure a seamless order processing experience. Our system is programmed to efficiently identify the best warehouse for dispatch based on your account integration setup.
π DCL's default order processing will always be via the closest location. This is the case for both single-location and multiple-location shipping.
Order Processing Options for Multiple-Location Shipping
DCL allows customers who split inventory across multiple warehouses to choose how their inventory is allocated.
Closest Zip Code. Items will ship from the location closest to the final destination zip code of the order. Read how to set up Split Shipping by Zip Code.
Net Inventory Available. Items will ship from the location where there is net inventory available. The location is determined by the inventory level of the parts in the order. Get full details on Shipping via Inventory Available.
Order Processing Options for Single-location Shipping
The location specified in the "location" field of our API determines where the order will be shipped from. We will direct the customer to add the location code for the warehouse they are set up to send out of:
FR - For Fremont Location
LA - For Ontario Location
KY - For Louisville Location
YK - For York Location
Typically, this is set up for accounts that ship from a single location. However, this setup can still be used even if an account has multiple shipping locations. In such cases, the customer will decide which location to use for a particular order by listing the location to ship in the "location" field of the order. The zip code or the split by inventory will not apply.
FAQs About DCL's Split Shipping Processes and Order Routing Options
Is there a default order routing option?
All orders will be processed by the DCL facility closest to the destination zip code by default. If you want to opt into either of the other shipping methods, you'll need to work with your DCL account team and meet specific criteria.
How does each order routing for multiple-location shipping options work?
Routing Option |
| Flow | Benefits |
Closest facility to delivery point | Default |

Which order routing option is best for me?
On-hand inventory routing is not a good idea for every brand. For example EDI orders that are being routed through a retail connection will not be able to use split by inventory.
